Green Foundation Announcement

The Allen P. and Josephine B. Green Foundation is pleased to announce a new relationship it has established with the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation (GKCCF). This relationship will go into effect on July 1, 2011. GKCCF will assist the Green Foundation by providing a host of services, including grant making support.

As a result, the Green Foundation will have a new process for its grant making, which will be administered by GKCCF. Going forward, all requests for funding will be submitted through an online grant application. In addition, current grantees will use this online tool to submit reports. This online application is administered by GKCCF. This new process will allow the Green Foundation to more effectively conduct our grant making activities, and provide a more efficient and streamlined means for applicants to submit requests and reports. Please note that all grant decisions will continue to be made by the Green Foundation board.

If you have any questions regarding the Green Foundation, including our grant process, we ask that you please contact our representatives at GKCCF and they will be glad to assist you. The following is their contact information:

Foundation Overview

The Allen P. and Josephine B. Green Foundation is a private foundation with about $11 million in assets.  The mission of the Foundation can be summed up as “Improving the quality of life in Missouri”. The Foundation accepts grant applications from and makes grants to publicly supported, non-profit [501(c)(3)] organizations whose objectives and programs generally fit within the mission of the Foundation.

Every year, the Foundation receives many more deserving grant requests than it can afford to fund. Not counting investment expenses, in most years, more than 80% of the Foundation’s expenditures are payments of grants. A part time administrator is the only employee.  Over its lifetime, the Foundation has paid out over $15,000,000 in grants.

There are eleven members of the Board of Directors, who meet twice a year to award grants and conduct other business essential to the Foundation. The office is located in Mexico, Missouri, where the Foundation was founded over sixty years ago. The Foundation’s tax returns can be viewed and downloaded at guidestar.org. Printed copies of the latest annual report may be obtained by contacting the Foundation
